Deferred/Delayed Admission to Reception Year
The majority of children start school full-time in the September following their fourth birthday. However, in some cases parents believe that starting part-time or starting later in the school year would be more appropriate for their child, particularly where their child was born prematurely and would otherwise have been due to start school a year later.
Parents can speak to the Family Information Service on 0800 587 8191 for advice and request a meeting with the head of the school where they have been allocated, or are hoping to gain, a place.
The Appeals Process
In accordance with the Admissions Code 2014, you have the right to appeal for any of the schools where you have been refused a place. When you are refused a place at your preferred Aspire Academy Trust school, you will be sent details by County on how to appeal if you wish to, and the deadlines and relevant timescales for this process.
If you are in receipt of a refusal letter from County please download the Aspire Academy Trust Admission Appeals Form and return it completed to your preferred school. This is then passed onto the independent Schools Admissions’ Appeals Panel.
A decision by an appeal panel whether or not to offer a school place is binding on the admission authority. If your appeal is unsuccessful, you may not appeal again for the same school within the same academic year unless there has been a change of address or significant material change in your circumstances.
