Working Together

Getting involved in your child’s education

There are many opportunities for parents/carers to be involved in the life of the school and we at Mawgan-in-Pydar believe it is crucial that parents/carers and school staff work together for the best interests of our children. Parents/carers are welcome to visit the school at any time, but please be prepared to make an appointment.

There are parent/carer consultation evenings each term. In the Autumn term parents/carers have the opportunity to see how their child is settling in and meet with the new teacher. The evenings in the Spring and Summer terms are to assess progress and raise any concerns which the parent/carer or school may have. At the Summer consultation, discussion is mainly about each pupil’s Annual Report.

A weekly ‘whole school’ newsletter is sent out every Friday to keep parents/carers informed and up to date with all of their child’s activities. At the start of the year, the class teacher will send out an information sheet, providing details about homework.

Your child’s class teacher can usually quickly deal with any queries or worries about the curriculum or other aspects of school life. If you are not satisfied with the outcome you can take the matter up with the Headteacher who will involve the persons necessary to resolve the situation. If the need arises, complaints in writing will be brought to the attention of the Governing Body as described in our Complaints Policy.
