Advance notice of the impact of industrial action on Wednesday 30 November 2011
As you will no doubt have heard in the media, widespread industrial action is being planned for Wednesday 30 November. Unless there is any further progress with the negotiations taking place with the government, it now seems almost certain that this action (a one day strike) will result in disruption in schools across the country, including whole school closure. There are a number of major concerns which form the basis of the action, but one that remains to the fore for our children and our children’s children is the impact the current proposals will have on staff in schools and therefore on our children. Changes to the pension’s arrangements will inevitably result in teachers and support staff having no option but to continue to work well past the time when they are able to give of their best to the children. And all children deserve the best that we can offer.
The current advice that we must regrettably give to you is the school will be CLOSED ON WEDNESDAY 30th NOVEMBER 2011.
Non striking members of staff are required to attend for work on that day, but there is not enough teaching staff to safely be open for the children. Thank you for your understanding in this matter.

ST.MAWGAN VILLAGE SHOP
Please note if you use the shop for soups, sausage rolls etc for your child’s lunch that the kitchen will be closed from 27th November to 5th December for refurbishment. There will be no food available for lunches during that time.
CHRISTMAS FAIR
Only two weeks today. Now is the time to sort out the toy cupboard, box or what ever to make room for Santa to bring all those new toys. The PTA will be having a nearly new toy stall. Already we have had some donations sent in. It also gives you a week to start baking for the cake stall. Cakes can be sent in on the morning of the fair FRIDAY 2nd DECEMBER. Donations of chocolate and wine can be sent in next week. Don’t forget to return your raffle stubs so they can be entered into the draw.
CLASS 2 HEAD LICE
Please be vigilant and check daily your child’s hair. It is the only way to keep on top of this ongoing problem.
LONG HAIR
If your child has long hair can you please make sure that it is tied back during the school day. Not only is it essential during PE lessons but it helps to avoid the problem above and is far better for the child to work unhindered with hair around their eyes and face.

Although Mr Polmounter will be away next Tuesday with the team at Summercourt, after school club will continue as normal with Mr Wellsteed assisted by Mrs Vannoey on the sidelines.
POTTERY CLUB
Through popular demand Helen Tooley will continue with her Pottery Club in the Spring Term. There are only 12 places available so it will on a first come basis. Letters were sent home on Monday. Cost is £45.00 for ten lessons.
